How are Grass Tea™ and the Carbon Recycler™ different?
Grass Tea™ produces a rich liquid fertilizer directly from grass clippings.
The Carbon Recycler™ is a system that:
Uses decomposing grass to release CO₂ and ammonia, dissolves these gases into rain barrel water and creates a lighter, garden-friendly liquid fertilizer.
Users of the Carbon Recycler™ can also collect Grass Tea™ if desired.
What materials can I use?
Both Grass Tea™ and the Carbon Recycler™ work best with fresh, soft yard materials such as grass clippings, small plant trimmings, and limited amounts of leaves, as these break down quickly and release the nutrients needed for the natural process to work effectively. It is best to avoid adding food scraps, meat, dairy, animal waste, large branches, or woody materials, as these can interfere with decomposition and reduce the efficiency of the system.
Are these solutions safe to use at home?
Yes. Both Grass Tea™ and the Carbon Recycler™ rely on natural decomposition — no chemicals, no electricity, and no hazardous materials.
How long does it take to produce fertilizer?
Grass Tea™ can be collected as it forms during decomposition, it needs approximately 2-4 days.
With the Carbon Recycler™, the liquid in the rain barrel can be used after 3–5 days, and continues to strengthen over time.
How do these products help reduce CO₂?
As grass clippings naturally decompose, they release CO₂ into the atmosphere. Instead of allowing this carbon to escape, the Grass Tea™ captures valuable nutrients directly from the decomposition process, while the Carbon Recycler™ absorbs CO₂ and ammonia into water to create a garden-friendly liquid fertilizer. By redirecting these emissions into a useful resource, both solutions help reduce greenhouse gases, strengthen the short carbon cycle, and return nutrients back into the soil.
How does this help reduce CO2?
Our research shows that 1.5 kg of grass clippings can release as much CO2 in a day as a mature tree absorbs.
By capturing that CO2 into water (instead of letting it escape into the air), you:
- Reduce greenhouse emissions
- Strengthen the short carbon cycle
- Use that carbon to nourish your garden
It’s an effective, small-scale carbon capture method for households.
Do I need to add anything else?
No. Grass clippings already provide the carbon, nitrogen, and moisture needed for both solutions to work.
Will there be odors?
Yes, some odor is normal when working with natural decomposition. When the system is opened for cleaning or when collecting Grass Tea™, you may notice a strong compost-like smell. The liquid produced is highly concentrated and nutrient-rich, which naturally gives it a strong odor.
However, when the system is closed and properly sealed, there should be little to no smell, as the bin is designed to contain the decomposition process effectively.
